Meet Hiro - A look at one of LA"s rising hairstylists and industry influencers

Meet Hiro-A look at one of LA

  • Meet Hiro, a cut and styling specialist, at Gavert Atelier Salon in Los Angeles, California. I follow Hiro on Instagram @hirohair and absolutely love his work. In fact, I don’t think I have ever seen a hairstyle from Hiro that I didn’t love.

  • The people he serves love him too. I saw nothing but 5 star reviews from his clients on Yelp. Each reviewer mentioned Hiro"s extremely nice personality and how pleasant he is to talk with. They felt Hiro truly listened to them and their desires, and above all, they were impressed by his meticulous attention to detail and the final outcome of their hair. Many actually said, it was the best haircut and style they had ever had in their lives.

  • I wanted to know more about Hiro and his professional views as a hairstylist, so I reached out to him. I have to say, I found him super courteous and fascinating. I hope that sharing some of Hiro’s inspiration and wisdom will be useful to you, and maybe help to bring you some hair inspiration, as well.

  • Hiro’s Background

Hiro was raised in Tokyo, and moved to Los Angelos in 2015 "to introduce Japanese hair cutting skills” here in The States. I think his Japanese roots are clearly evident through his work. Hiro displays the hospitality of the Japanese heart whilst creating the detailed and fine work, that Japan has always been known for.

  • Inspiration for Hairstyling

I asked Hiro, what inspires him when he works. And, his reply made complete sense to me. Hiro said he draws his inspiration from natural elements, such as “bird’s feathers and animal’s fur”. Throughout history, I feel like nature has been a driving influence in Japanese art. Knowing, now, what inspires him, I can see the influence of feathers and fur in his work. The fact that Hiro is inspired by nature is beautiful to me. I honestly, can not think of anything more majestic than nature, to draw inspiration from and use to emphasize a person"s natural beauty.

  • Product Recommendation

When it comes to product recommendations, Hiro sticks true to his Japanese foundation. Hiro advices using "Japanese products and Japanese deep conditioners to care for hair”. He recommends MILBON, Japan’s number 1 haircare brand for over 50 years. MILBON works with master stylists around the world to create superior hair care products that are backed by years of research. You can follow their line of products on Instagram @milbonusa or visit their US website to find partner salons near you, where you can purchase MILBON products.

  • 2019 Goals and Hairstyle Trends

In 2019, Hiro would like to continue to bring more recognition to the art of Japanese hairstylists, and he says that this year, “fringe or bangs with a lot of texture” will be a hot trend. Personally, Im excited to see more texture and fringe, as I love both, and have always had a preference for the Bardot Bang myself.

  • It is clear form his work, that Hiro is truly an expert hairstylist, and he has a lot to offer the hair industry. Hiro said he became a stylist because he felt that "he could change people’s lives” through cutting hair. And, I think he is doing an excellent job. Hiro doesn’t just cut hair, he enhances beauty through precise skills, hospitality, and a passion to help others. I am excited to follow Hiro on Instagram and watch as he continues to impact the hair industry and make a positive impact on hairstylists and the people he serves.

  • If you are around LA and looking to get “the best haircut ever,” I highly recommend making an appointment with Hiro. He is sure to give you an amazing hair transformation, and with his suave, Japanese spirit and style, it will be an experience to remember.
